Beauty Poll: Is it OK to Clip Your Nails in Public?

Two weeks ago, I boarded a night flight to London for the Olympics, and all I really wanted to do was sleep from the time when the wheels went up to the time we touched down on the tarmac across the pond. Unfortunately that didn't happen.

Why? The wonderful woman sitting directly across the aisle from me pulled out her fingernail clippers and loudly clipped her nails. I thought that was extremely tacky until she took off her shoes and clipped her toenails, too. Now that was tacky.

I was beyond mortified, as was everyone else in our vicinity. In fact, we all traded 'OMG-WTF' glances at each other, her, and her husband, who dutifully picked her discarded clippings up off of the floor. (Lucky her, I guess?) As if that weren't enough, she commenced to clip his fingernails when she finished publicly grooming herself. Thankfully, she spared us his toes.

Is it just me, or is the general consensus that clipping your nails and toenails in public is still considered trés déclassé?
