Does Acqua Di GiÃ² Deserve a Hall of Fame Award?

When you write about beauty, magical things start to happen. Once, I lamented that my favorite eye cream was running out and came in to work to find a brand new jar sitting on my desk. After five posts about The Hunger Games, I found myself at a private screening with a member of the film's hair and makeup crew. (I'm telling you, this job kind of rocks.)

And though my frequent mention of the name Ryan Gosling hasn't amounted to anything (yet), I knew something was up when I went in to hug my date the other day and smelled my favorite fragrance on him yes, the one I had written about that week.

"I didn't know you wore Acqua di Giò," I said calmly (as I sat on my hands). He smirked and admitted that he didn't. "I read your article and picked up a sample at Sephora," he said. I couldn't decide what was more attractive: the fact that he knew Sephora offered fragrance samples, or that he went out of his way to impress me. Being the beauty romantic that I am, I swooned and complimented him on how sweet of a gesture that was. "It was actually kind of manipulative," he corrected me.

Motive aside, the scent was powerful enough to get the dude another date and now potentially a trophy. On Friday, the Fragrance Foundation announced that Acqua di Giò by Giorgio Armani is a finalist for their prestigious Hall of Fame award, alongside other men's-fragrance nominees A*Men by Thierry Mugler, Chrome by Azzaro, and Issey Miyake L'Eau d'Issey Pour Homme. The winner will be announced May 21. By now, my vote is obvious. But tell us, what's yours?
